Path- Journey of India
The story of India's long checkered 5000 year history in a riveting 90- minute dramatic presentation of a collage of India of a 60 year young country.
Portrayed by children who share historic information by participation, this production is a multi-media theatrical production that traces the milestones of Indian civilization from pre-colonization to the future beyond post-colonization. Pre-colonization captures the concept of shabda-nishabda, two components of meter (1. Silently keeping time with hands and 2. Utterance of religious songs-from ancient Sikh tradition), while colonization and the struggle for independence highlights moments of Indian history. Post-independence shows the resurgence of our arts and the firm path to a self sufficient India.
It's difficult for children of Indian origin who have grown up abroad to get a real grasp on these concepts. In keeping with NrityArpana's mandate of holistic learning and cultural awareness, a workshop is conducted prior to starting the rehearsals for those scenes portraying pre-colonization and the struggle for Independence. Widely appreciated by participants and parents alike, it is a pleasant occurrence to see children understand the various roles portrayed by them and their friends in the production.
This production has been staged in India and the United States of America.
It celebrates 60 years of India's Independence. Choreographed by Suhas Riggs and Anupa Mirle.
